About Us

Bilpin Botanic Orchard is a family-run orchard located on the historic Bells Line of Road, Bilpin, NSW. It was originally opened in 1956 by the Bullock family and passed on to Neville and Shelley who managed the orchard until their retirement in 2019.

We relocated here from Sydney, in search of a simpler life, one that is more harmonious with nature and the community around us.

Currently, we nurture and cultivate our harvest from 300 cherry trees and 800 apple trees. We also planted 300 persimmon trees in 2021.

Our orchard is set on a North West facing slope, which receives all the sun it needs to produce sweet cherries and apples. Our soil is dark and rich in nutrients indicated by our abundant earthworm community (our beloved soil engineers). They improve our soil structure, water movement, nutrient cycling and happy plant growth.

We are passionate about ethical farming practices. Our entire orchard is watered by our dam which collects rainwater throughout the year. We have switched to solar energy and are always seeking ways to increase biodiversity on our orchard.

We understand our responsibility and duty as faithful stewards of the land, to live in harmony with life around us.
